Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 13, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the syne mobile application (the "App"). In this policy, "we," "our," and "us" refer to the individual operator of syne:
syne is operated by an individual (a sole trader), not a company. Maksims Jarinovskis is the data controller responsible for your personal data. Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the App.
Cycle tracking is optional
Menstrual cycle tracking is an optional feature. You can skip it during onboarding using the "Skip for now" button, and you can turn it off and delete your cycle data later at any time. If you never enable it, we do not collect any cycle information from you.
Information We Collect
We collect the following information so the App can function and so we can improve it:
Account and profile data
When you create an account we collect your email address, display name, and a user identifier. You sign in using an email address and password, Sign in with Apple, or Google Sign-In. Your profile may also include your body weight, your preferred weight unit, your theme preference, and onboarding details such as your fitness goals, gender, workout frequency, experience level, pain points, and notification preferences.
Workout and training data
We store the workouts you log (including exercises, sets, reps, weights, durations, and personal-record flags), your workout templates, and your exercise library (per-exercise history, usage counts, and personal bests).
Menstrual cycle data (optional, with your consent)
If you choose to enable cycle tracking, we collect your last period start date, your average cycle length, and your period length. The App uses these to estimate your current cycle phase, and it stamps the estimated cycle phase and cycle day onto individual workouts you log so you can see them in context. This is special-category health data and is only collected if you enable the feature.
Feedback
If you use the in-app feedback box, we store the free-text feedback you submit.
Device and technical data
To deliver push notifications, we collect and store device push tokens (Firebase Cloud Messaging). If the App crashes, we collect crash diagnostics including stack traces, device and operating-system information, and your account identifier, to help us fix problems.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate and improve the App:
Firebase Authentication (Google)
Purpose: Account creation and login, including Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In
Data processed: Email, display name, and authentication tokens.
Cloud Firestore (Google)
Purpose: Database that stores your account, profile, workouts, templates, exercise library, cycle data, and feedback
Data processed: All of the app data described in this policy. Stored in the European Union (EU region).
Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google)
Purpose: Push notifications
Data processed: Device push tokens.
Firebase Crashlytics (Google)
Purpose: Crash and error reporting
Data processed: Crash stack traces, device and operating-system information, and your Firebase user identifier.
PostHog (EU region)
Purpose: Product analytics to understand how the App is used and to improve it
Data processed: This data is pseudonymous, not anonymous. The App identifies your analytics profile using your Firebase user identifier, so events are tied to a persistent profile. That profile carries properties such as: gender, fitness goals, pain points, experience level, workout frequency, whether cycle tracking is enabled, whether notifications are enabled, weight unit, reminder time, whether onboarding is complete, whether you are a Pro or beta user, app version, locale, and counts of your workouts, templates, and exercise-library entries.
Events captured include screen views, tab changes, onboarding progress, sign-up and login success and failure, workout builder opened/saved/abandoned/blocked, workout deleted, paywall viewed/dismissed, subscription purchased/restored, free-limit hits, and app lifecycle events.
We have configured analytics to be privacy-protective: geolocation lookup is disabled (we do not collect location), and session replay and touch autocapture are switched off (we do not record your screens or taps). The App deliberately never sends to analytics your email, display name, body weight, cycle length, period length, or last period start date — those details stay in the database. PostHog is hosted in the European Union.
RevenueCat
Purpose: Subscription management
Data processed: Purchase and subscription status, and your Firebase user identifier, which is used as your customer ID so your subscription follows your account.
Apple App Store
Purpose: All payment processing for subscriptions
Data processed: Your payment details are handled entirely by Apple; we never receive or store them.
Legal Bases for Processing
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract: to create your account and provide the core features of the App.
- Legitimate interests: for product analytics, crash reporting, and improving the App.
- Consent: for menstrual cycle data, which is special-category health data under Article 9 GDPR. You give this consent by choosing to enable cycle tracking during onboarding (which you can skip) and by entering your cycle information. You can withdraw it at any time by turning cycle tracking off and removing the data, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
Your Rights Under GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights:
- Right to access: you can request copies of your personal data.
- Right to rectification: you can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Right to erasure: you can delete your account and all of your data yourself at any time from the profile screen in the app, or ask us to delete your personal data.
- Right to restrict processing: you can ask us to restrict how we process your data.
- Right to data portability: you can ask us to transfer your data to you or another provider.
- Right to object: you can object to our processing of your data.
- Right to withdraw consent: where we rely on consent (such as cycle tracking), you can withdraw it at any time, with no effect on processing carried out before withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at yarinovskywork@gmail.com.
Right to lodge a complaint: you have the right to complain to a supervisory authority. For processing in the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl), and you may also complain to the supervisory authority in your own country.
International Transfers
Your workout, cycle and profile data is stored in the European Union (Google Cloud Firestore, EU region), and our product analytics are hosted in the European Union (PostHog, EU region). Some of our other service providers process data outside the EEA, in the United States: Firebase Authentication, Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google), and RevenueCat. These transfers are made under appropriate safeguards, including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or Standard Contractual Clauses.
Deleting Your Data
Deleting your account. You can permanently delete your account and all of your data at any time from the profile screen in the app. Tap "Delete account", confirm, and — depending on how you sign in — either enter your password or complete your Apple or Google sign-in to confirm it's you. This immediately and permanently deletes your profile, workouts, workout templates, exercise library, cycle information, feedback and device push tokens. If you signed in with Apple, your Sign in with Apple authorisation is also revoked. This cannot be undone, and you need to be online to do it.
Deleting only your cycle information. If you want to remove your cycle data but keep your account, you can do that separately. On the profile screen, turn off cycle tracking, then use "Remove cycle information" to delete your cycle settings and "Remove saved phases from workouts" to delete cycle phase data stored on individual workouts. Both actions are permanent.
If you no longer have the app installed. Email yarinovskywork@gmail.com from the address associated with your account and we will delete your account and data, and confirm, within 30 days.
Note that deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription. Subscriptions are managed by Apple — cancel yours in your Apple ID Account Settings.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. When you request deletion, we action the request and confirm within 30 days, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. Your data is stored in the European Union, transmitted over encrypted connections, and protected by database access rules that restrict every record to the account that created it — no other user can read your data. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 16 years of age. Depending on your EU member state, the minimum age for consent to data processing may be between 13 and 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
